Hi! Everyone this is my review for the new Alien: Covenant movie! I went to see this movie at my local cinemark movie theater where my price ticket is $4.00. Now you know where I have seen it let’s dive in!I really liked the trailer for this Alien movie! It had the core ingredients: space ship, aliens, and great cast selection all wrapped into the trailer. The opening of the movie left me a bit confused. It opens up with a man activating an android that appears to have some kind of human rational/feeling processor. Fassbender acted well as David, the android, in the opening sequence. I think this is the first time he has acted like a android? Anyways, fast forward and we are set in the future where. We see Fassbender again but he isn’t David. This time he is another android named Walter who is caring for the crew and colonists. At first I thought that it was the same one and he changed his name. The sets were done amazing and flowed well with the movie. It had all the natural, space station sets and gadgets you’d expect with a sci-fi movie.I love the diverse set of cast. There wasn’t an actor or actress that brought the movie down in this movie. I like that they were a variety of couples in the movie no matter how short they lived because let’s be real this is a Alien’s movie.A solar flare happens damaging the ship killing the captain and several of the colonists. While they are repairing their ship and dealing with the loss of their captain and colonists the crew member Tennessee comes across a transmission. This transmission leads them to a planet that is closer than the one that they are originally supposed to go to. Against the second in commands warnings that the planet hasn’t been vetted like the one they are going too the new captain disregards her and has them go to the island. When they get to this island they find that the conditions are quite habitable. As they are searching for the source of the transmission they find that the groups separate. A small group of the new captains wife and I believe a mechanic stay behind to gather  samples to test on their lander ship while the rest go looking for the source of the transmissions. The main group finds their ship and see that it is an older ship that had gone missing seven years ago with one of the doctors looks for planets for humans to live on. However, the smaller group stumbles onto some trouble when the man of the group gets infected by some plant parasites after stepping on the planet emitting them into the air. The female doctor and wife of the captain coms to the group that she is heading back to the ship to get the man to the sick bay. At the ship, Paris ~ the female pilot and engineer, aids her in getting the man into the sick bay. While attempting to get him onto the bed Paris witnesses the body mutate and spew blood. She runs out and locks both man and doctor in the sick bay room. She runs to the com and tells the captain to come back there is something wrong. then she runs back to the sick bay where the man is dead and the baby white alien has emerged from the body and is going after the doctor. Paris runs grabs a gun and unlocks the door to get in and save the doctor but is too late the alien goes after her. She slips and shoots the ship which starts a fire that blows up the ship just as the remaining crew arrive. While they are witnessing this one of the crew members starts acting like the man in the ship and the other crew members are trying to hold him down as the alien comes through the mans chest. They shoot this one dead. There is no time to rest as they are suddenly surrounded by more white skinned aliens. They are then saved after loosing two more crew members by a mysterious figure who guides them away from the aliens. We learn that the man is actually David from the beginning of the movie. He had joined Dr. Shaw who was looking for other habitable planets. David tells them that they are safe there and to make themselves comfortable. He says hello to Walter calling him “brother”. A weird notion to me is that the new captain actually tells David their mission and how many colonists there are but anyways Walter takes this time to speak with David. We find out that David’s owner had made more copies of David just without the human emotions or rational thinking skills. The exchange is awkward but you can see the differences between the versions. They remain there for several hours and during this time one of the stray aliens finds them and kills one of the crew. the new captain finds David trying to communicate with the alien. The captain kills the alien and makes him tell him what happened here. David explains that while he has been there he has been cultivating and mutating the aliens into the perfect race of aliens. He leads the captain down to his alien eggs where the captain is implanted by a face hugger. The captain wakes up in time for the alien to hatch from his chest. Meanwhile, Walter finds in one of David’s rooms Dr. Shaw being preserved after having gone through her own hatching. Walter calculates that David isn’t telling the truth just as the team decides to leave. They go looking for Walter, the captain, and one of the team members that’s been murdered by the alien. Walter hears David playing his recorder and goes to confront him. There is this weird exchange where David wants him to follow but concludes that Walter will try to save the humans.  So David says,“I’m the only one that will ever love you.” Then he kisses Walter before stabbing him in the neck. Walter immediately squats down into offline mode. Danny, the second in command, finds a library or study with a wall full of scrolls. We can only assume that Walter has told Danny what David told him because she finds on the table slab drawings of the hatched Dr. Shaw. She turns to find David there. She demands he tell her what really happened and he tells her he is going to do her what he did Dr. Shaw. They fight and David gets the upper hand pinning her down and kissing her. David asks her if “That’s what it is like?” She doesn’t get to reply when Walter throws him off her. Walter urges her to go and Walter fights David explaining there had been modifications since his birth. They fight and once again David makes Walter choose him or the humans. We don’t see what happens but it fast forwards to Danny getting Tennessee to rescue them in the back up escape ship. They are rescued but they battle a black alien that sprays its acidic venom onto one of the crew’s face. We see Walter again reappear. He is patching up the mans face as Danny kills the black alien. They go back to the ship and the one injured man is taken to the sick bay. The others think they are good as they start heading for the original destination. Everything seems good until a few hours later when Mother, the ships operating system, wakes Danny up- who is now captain- because there is an unidentified species on the ship. She and Tennessee go to the sick bay to find that one of the aliens has hatched from the crew member. This confused me because now the aliens can infect using their acid now? Unless when he was patching the man up he popped one of the small face huggers inside? I also chopped it up to the mutations that David had created. It isn’t until they are trying to contain the alien to follow Danny and Tennessee I realize that Walter is David. Sadly I watch on and I am so happy when Danny and Tennessee finally kill the alien. However, I know that it isn’t going to end well because we get to the end where Danny and “Walter” have put Tennessee in his sleep pod. It isn’t until the end when she asks “Walter” if he will help her build her cabin that they talked about earlier in the movie that she realizes that it’s David. She panicks and trying to stop her pod from activating but looses as David seals her pod shut. He then goes to the embryo containers and coughs up two stores of alien eggs adding them to the drawer. Overall, This was a good movie. I gave it a four out of five because I actually wanted Walter to survive and everyone be safe. I know that was unrealistic for the series but still! Also, this wasn’t marketed as a prequel, but it actually is. because it explains how the aliens came into existence which is that the virus that was on Dr. Shaw’s ship mutated instantly the current inhabitants into the aliens we know sort of today. I think there will be a sequel and I would love for her to kick David’s ass for what he did to Walter and the others. I wouldn’t re-watch but I would recommend! This is a really good movie, and don’t just take my opinion go watch it. :)
